Look at him. Powerful. Perfect. Remember, they're smarter than you. But not me.
Ryker in "Night of the Hunters, Part 1"

Cagecruncher is a Monstrous Nightmare who first appeared in the Dragons: Race to the Edge episode, "Night of the Hunters, Part 1".

Official Description[]

These Monstrous Nightmares will eat anything in their way, including the cages they're trapped in.
  Dragons: Rise of Berk

Biography[]

Captured[]

Cagecruncher was first seen trapped in a cage in the episode "Night of the Hunters, Part 1", held captive by Dragon Hunters. A Dragon Hunter tossed it food and mocked it. Ryker Grimborn, on the other hand, reminded him to treat it with respect before shoving his head against the cage. Ryker proceeded to praise the dragon's power and ferocity, remarking that it was smarter than the Hunter. Cagecruncher lunged at the two, but Ryker pulled the Hunter out of the way just in time to leave him alive. Cagecruncher gnawed on the cage, attempting to escape. Ryker then smugly concluded that Cagecruncher was still not smarter than he was.

Physical Appearance[]

Cagecruncher has the appearance of a normal Monstrous Nightmare. In Night of the Hunters Part I, its color is similar to that of Fanghook, Girl Hookfang, and Astrid's Monstrous Nightmare, with a dark pink body, head, and tail, a cream underbelly, and a yellow-gold snout, with yellow wings that fade into pink at the edges. Dragons: Rise of Berk, however, it has completely yellow head. This was likely done to distinguish it from other Monstrous Nightmares in the game.

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • It is unknown if Cagecruncher was freed from his cage, or if he is still trapped by the Dragon Hunters. However, Dragons: Rise of Berk seems to imply that he escaped from his cage.
  • A Monstrous Nightmare individual named in Dragons: Rise of Berk called Munchauser may be the dragon caged during "Night of the Hunters, Part 1" that Ryker Grimborn speaks of, based on Munchauser's in-game description. In the game, Cagecruncher is referred to as multiple individuals.
