'John Powell' (born September 18, 1963) is a British composer who wrote the music for the How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack. He is also appreciated for his compositions in other Dreamworks movies such as Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and will be returning for How to Train Your Dragon 2. Out of all other movies, How to Train Your Dragon earned John Powell his first nomination for an Academy Award.
